I just got a 360 yesterday and was reading the Xbox website which said that it was possible to use it in conjunction with your Home PC w/ either XP Media Center or Vista to record TV.

After reading their setup, I've got some questions about how it works. Can anyone explain it? I'd watch them but I leave for work @ 6am and usually don't get home til 6pm.

EDIT: I will be setting it up so that the Xbox is hooked up to the VGA port of my second 19" monitor. Sound goes from PC in sig to HT in sig thru coax on motherboard. Cable for TV goes into an old CRT atm.

Sort of. It can, however, function as an extender to your Windows Media Center box, which can. You can schedule recordings, watch live TV, etc. from your 360 using this paradigm.

Just remember that you can't just buy a CableCard tuner and have it work in 99.9% of cases, so you're stuck with something like the HDHomeRun (which is a fantastic clear QAM/ATSC tuner).

So if I don't have WIndows Media center (or a TV tuner) then I can't watch/record it

Yeah, the 360 only functions as a terminal for accessing the functions on your PC. Too bad AT&T has been dragging their ass on rolling out U-Verse.
