Using 1 dimm or 2 dimms ?

Hi. Just wonder if it will be better to use 2 ddr modules or 1 ddr module on the P4B266 or on most motherboards in general. Thinking about getting a single 512MB ddr module or I should get 2 256MB module. Thank you.
 
I prefer 2 x 256. If one stick goes bad, or arrives bad, you can still run
on the good one.

I'd prefer one 512, since i845 can only have 4banks=2slots
so I leave one empty, just incase if I need to add another 512
or if the price is really really cheap.
