User Name observation

Anyone else notice that many of our "new" members often sign up with unreasonably long names? I've been here for some 6 or 7 years, but time and time again, the usernames that I notice screwing up formatting belong to users with new join dates.

Today's latest offender: UnbalancedCheckbook

I think many of these people are returning banned members....what say you ATOT?

Yeah - anything over 12 characters is excessive

Me too... though I've been considering changing to an abbreviated name.

I find both of your names acceptably short. It fits fine even on my small 1280x800 laptop screen. I guess people still rocking 1024x768 might be complaining, but too bad for you grandpa! Get a new monitor.

The length of the persons username is reversely proportional to how cool they are.

That and all the short names were taken in the beginning so you have no choice but to do long user names.

What's worse is that they're usually stupid names. I'm guessing most of the people who do it are formerly banned members.

yeah, i remember when danthemanwiththemasterplan first joined. that messed up the formatting for the entire page if he had a post on it.
maybe that's why he got it shortened
