Usenet ($8mo.)

usenetserver is what I use and am completely satisfied with their service. In the old days, you would sub to newsgroups and pull headers, then sift through a bunch of fluff and a few stuff that might interest you. Nowadays, you just use a newsgroup index site to search for your stuff or see what was posted recently. Sure you can pay high dollar for usenet with a web interface but unlimited NNTP with good retention and completion, and very cheap, with Usenetserver is good enough for me.

Compared to torrents, your risk of lawsuits is negligible. Just use encrypted SSL offered by Usenetserver.

It's way more secure/anonymous than BT, IMO. Your billing information is out there, but they don't keep track of what you do with the access. Most of them are just happy to be a dumb pipe.

If you're coming from strictly torrents, you'll be blown away by how easy and fast usenet is once youve learned how to use it. The main problem is that it comes at a price and most freeloaders want to pay exactly 0. BT is for you then. But if you want to get hat you're looking for as quickly as possible, then you will extremely happy shelling out the $10/mo or so.

Yeh you can't beat the SSL security as far as downloading things. nzbclub.com or binsearch.info is a great place to go. I use grabit for the downloading program. Torrents for me are typically way too slow and I can normally find what I want on the newsgroups. I use newsdemon for mine, but I ran into a deal where I got half off the best service so thats why I use it. I always get max speed when using usenet unlike torrents.
