This was posted in the Hot Deals forum a few days ago, but I couldn't find the thread plus the site is down now, so I mirrored the file.

The file is OpenSelectedURL.

Simple reg hack that lets you highlight a non-linked URL like www.anandtech.com , right click, and then select "Open Selected URL" from the context menu. Really useful when reading n00b posts without proper linkage.

It's pretty damn accurate and flexible too.. you can hack it more to give ftp url support as well.
Heck, it can even interpret this: htp:/yahoo.com

Hmm, maybe I need to log off & log back on...

Can't do that right now, though, have to keep my tools up & running.

Why don't people just learn how to make links? I'm lazy but I still manage to make links for all of my posts! Support the lazy!

Works fine with the 3 XP machines I've installed it on.

I'm on XP Pro and it works for me.

If you installed XP to the default location then you need to be sure that you merge the "openselectedurl_95-98.reg" into your registry since XP's Windows Folder is C:\Windows like 9x rather than C:\WINNT like NT/2K.

Then you must make sure to extract "openselectedurl.htm" to your C:\Windows\Web folder.

If you have XP installed to a non-standard location like a different folder name or hard drive, you'll have to edit the reg file manually according to your settings.

Damn Ameesh, you really hate people using non-MS software don't you?

not at all , more power to you! competition is healthy :D

Too bad Microsoft's idea of healthy competition is destroying anyone who might get competitive.
