There's a worldofwarcraft.com forums topic that has profession FAQs. Can't link from here since it is blocked. That is the only place I go other than thottbot and cosmos, generally. Thottbot's info on professions is a bit scattered. The FAQs are a lot better.

I like allakhazam better than thottbot. UI is nicer and thottbot always seems to take forever to load for me.

I use ct_mod, doesn't seem as buggy as cosmos on my system.

Also wowcensus interesting if not all that accurate.
