For those of you that don't mind a Preowned PS2 and games, then i'd say its a pretty good deal.

Getting used hardware is a bad idea. Sony doesn't exactly have a good history
with the Playstation/Playstation 2 lines. (not very durable units)

What do you mean by this? What kind of problems have you heard from PS1? The only problem I heard of are people killing their system by trying to modify it. Otherwise, it should be fine.

Original PSX's had many problems such as the laser mechanism being of extremely cheap quality and thus having major problems moving along the track after time which resulted in skipping movies or problems loading games. The solution was to flip the PSX over so the laser would ride on the other side of the track but the other side would eventually wear as well.

I remember other weird problems with first gen PSX's but I dont recall what they were.

First gen PS2's had problems like the PS2 not recognizing DVDs and only CDs or the reverse. I've had problems with my first gen PS2, sometimes I put a disc into the PS2 and it thinks there's nothing in the drive ... gotta turn it off in the back and turn it back on to get it to work.

Anyways, I'm sure they have some sort of warranty if you buy a used unit. If you're really worried you can probably buy the extended warranty from them.

These should be units that Gamestop bought back from people. I doubt gamestop would buy a defective unit, so these should all work.

I'd be all over this if there was more then one game in the bundel that I wanted

Imiloa- great deal, thanks! You just made a guy overseas (verrrry far from a Virginmega store) very happy...

Btw, am I going to need a memory card right off the bat, or does the ps2 have memory of its own to work with?

Also, the three games that come with it are:

NHL 2001
Madden NFL 2001
Kessen

THanks for the info, MrBond.

PS- there's only two more hours til the special deal is over. Apparently you'll still be able to get the system for 250, but it won't include the 3 free games.

Thanks! I have been waiting for a decent deal to get one and with not having to pay tax, it really made it worth it.

Whenever someone gets theirs (if anyone orders), please let me know the quality of the system and the games. I just want another system to try my hand at modding, so I would sell them games off.

Thanks!

I got mine today and the three games and the PS2 itself all seem to be in really good shape. I will let you know if it craps out anytime soon.

Just as with anything else, used gear is used gear. Inspect it thoroughly when you get it while you can still return it.

As for PS's problems, at least they didn't BSOD like the first DC's did. LoL (Had a friend that had one did that whenever we played NFL2k)

usually i don't have much of a problem with refurbs, but my experiences with getting a used ps2 and g400 have turned me off to used sony stuff.

i got in on the half.com used ps2 deal ($250, but without controller through worldsbestdeals), and got a defective unit. then i remembered that about a year ago, i tried to buy a sony g400 monitor from sony's refurb store, and they sent me 2 units that didn't work.

seems to me that the best way to avoid sony lemons is not to buy returned stuff.
