Are there any reasons people are only suggesting Entry-level luxury sedans such as the Infiniti G35/37, RL, CTS, Lexus ES, etc?
I mean you you all do know the 7 series, S-class, XJ, A8 are all better cars. Now go look at the used prices for these cars. MY 2005 and up.
Now, does anyone still want a lowly G37 or CTS?
Ermm lowly?....better cars...right......You surely have not thought this post through. No one is suggesting a 7-series for reasons such as...that we are smart....like we would not suggest a high mileage 5-year old out of warranty flagship German luxury sedan for a guy with a budget of $25K type of smart.
I like BMW as much as the next guy but a 7-series?! and for $25K I bet you the OP can get a sub 10K miles full option CTS like mine for instance with 2 years+ of bumper to bumper warranty and a 100K+ miles factory power-train warranty + all the bells and whistles he would like. Call it what you want lowly or not, a CTS is a luxury car and luxury hihg performance cars are often in the shop, it's the norm. Do you have any idea how many times I had to take my "lowly" CTS in for warranty repairs despite the low mileage?
I have had my CTS with me for about half a year now, got it when it was less than 25K miles, and I figured despite all inspections I will run in into a big list of residual problems (thanks to the original owner). But I got it with plenty of warranty so no worries, I would have not made the deal otherwise. But now after all those things got taken care of in the first month of ownership, I will hopefully have few things to worry about besides regular maintenance, which I do myself usually.
Make your suggestion again when it would be possible for the OP to own a 7-series for $25K without having to throw thousands of dollars from his own pocket to get it back to a running state after it starts breaking, as I can almost gurantee it will have loads of undiscovered issues at the time of sale that will force the buyer to get rid of it at the cheapest of asking prices.
How much would it cost to replace a transmission on a 7-series? What would he do if he got a 745i and it's tranny goes bad next week? Cry a river? But if he had a car with warranty he would drop the car at the dealership like I do, pickup the keys to an as good if not better loaner and come back when they have it all taken care of without paying a single dime.
A case in point, few months ago I had returned a 2010 CTS loaner (Had 600 miles on the ODO) that was given to me immediately on the spot for the duration of a week because my 2007 CTS had a bunch of things I have been planning to get taken care of that surfaced after I bought it: AC leak (bad pipe replaced), an exhaust leak (replaced manifold-cat gasket), a burned out fog light (had to removed front bumper to replace bulb), a passenger airbag error on console (replaced Airbag harness), broken old front sway bar links (had a run in with a nasty pothole)
All done under warranty, all I had to do was drop it off at the dealership and I was on my way, no worries about how much it will cost or anything else.
Now I want you to picture the same scenario with an out of warranty 7-series at the stealership, they will take you for one hell of a ride that's for sure. Add in a bigger problem like a tranny on a 745i and the OP got himself a disaster.
