Looking to get copies of D3RoS on Xbox 360 for a couple friends who have never played. Can I buy used copies and expect them to function correctly (single and multiplayer) or are these now key activated to an account so they would not have access to multiplayer? I know on the PC (where I played it) it is bound to an account, you would have to sell the account (against EULA, I'm NOT suggesting this) to transfer the game to someone else. Just want to see if the Xbox 360 version is like this or is it open for use on any account/Xbox?
 
Sorry for highjacking your topic but does Diablo III on consoles have seasons or is it a PC thing only?
 
Can't speak to the Xbox versions, but on PS3/PS4 there's no account tied to the disc itself. I haven't even created a Battle.net account, and have played RoS extensively on PS3 and PS4.

Not currently, no.
 
You can tie your PSN / XBL account to your Battle.net account and you'll get some nice starter gear. But you're not hard linking your physical copy of the game.

Just remember the X360/PS3 versions are not being patched anymore. I think all they got was the initial RoS with patch 2.1 or something and that's it. No further patches were released for the old consoles. Only X1/PS4 are being updated together with the PC version (at the same time). No seasons on the consoles, but all new seasonal items are immediately available each new season is released on PC. Online community buffs are there too on X1/PS4. Pretty much everything except seasons.

Just PC but I heard it will be coming at some point for PS4 and XB1.

As for buying the game used it's fine. You don't need any online activation code, just your battle.net account.

LOL I'm okay with a minor hijack. 🙂

Glad to hear the physical disc isn't tied to an account. Even though there are no further patches, coworker should be able to enjoy most content on his 360. Found out the other guy is on an XB1 so he will have a more "complete" experience.

One more question - do the different versions play together or is everybody in their own sandbox? I'm pretty sure the PC people can't mingle with the consolers but I'm curious about the different console versions (PS3/360/XB1/etc).
 
No cross-system play. So no PS3 with PS4 or X360 with X1. Also no PS4 with X1 or PS3 with X360.
 
Ouch. So could be extremely small silos to play in, depending on residual popularity this far after release (people tend to move on from console releases much faster than PC releases based on what I've seen). Oh, well, I guess they'll still get the point.

Has this game ever gone cheaper than $34 new? Seems to have held it's value for a lot longer than other titles.
