was looking around for a new monitor, decided that LCD doesnt look good with gaming to me, and the ones that are good for gaming are too expensive. so im thinking about getting this 21" P1130 Link. its about 140 after shipping and taxes. a grade refurb. any opinions about it or tips on what i should look at after getting it? or maybe another monitor around 200 price range

I got the same grade a refurbed monitor over a year ago from accurateit and it costs more than 2x that price. Many people swear by azatek though.

i bought a G500 from Ebay. man does that monitor kick your ass in.
CRT is deffinatley the cheap way to go high quality now.

my brother has a refurb 19" sony trinitron he got back in 1998. works just like new. but i mean, if you get unlucky...

How?

because CRT's are superior quality to LCD's at almost everything. they are way cheeper too. the only thing it lacks is the "cool factor" lcd's just look better. its sort of like iPods.

.....but I also own a NEC Multisync FE2111sb.

i dont want to sound like a noob.....but what is QFT, I thought it meant Quit F*&^ng Trolling. I am at a loss as i dont know what it means.

Don't you just hate it when that happens. I remember when I first started with EQ and all posts were filled with acronyms.

QFT.....quoted for truth.

Only One CRT to get

SONY 24" GDM-FW900

Ebay Item number: 8745658892

But only if you have the desk space and at 100 pounds it better not crack your desk and fall on your foot. ( laugh )

Also, I don't think that they make these any more so you gotta get them before they all disapear.
.

The refurbs aren't like new as you guys profess it to be. I personally have used A LOT of refurbs. They are a lot blurrier with the brightness/contrast turned up than a brand new one. For example, on a refurb, you can use about 35brightness/90contrast before it starts getting blurry. On a brand new one, you can use 45brightness/100contrast before it starts getting blurry.

the best CRT imo is the Sony trinitron. however, they discontinued it. so, find it while they are still out there. its sad that everyone gave up on CRT's.

I've yet to spend a dime on my monitors. So many people are throwing out their CRT's that they replace with LCD that I just grab them on my way home, I've always liked quality CRT's. They warm up my apartment too. 🙂

You can still get some, but they are mostly the smaller 17" ones. And almost all of these are going to be newer manufactures, which means you will have quality control problems to deal with and can only get replacements from the vendor. Also, the availability isn't up to date on Google. A lot of them, especially the few 21/22" ones in the list, are listed as "out of stock" or "unavailable" on the actual reseller's site.

thats what my mom does at her office. ive never paid for a floppy drive, and usually dont buy monitors.

imo, lcd's are just too expensive for the amount of quality they produce.

I am waiting for mature OLED's like i would imagine most of us are. from the technological standpoint they sound like the quality replacement for CRT monitors. I also asked in another forum about the limit on the avarag 17" and 19" LCD screen resolutions. Why manufacturers dont seem bothered by this?

This guy on ebay, Monitormon, has nice Sony's 21" And has a 3 yr warranty on most items!!!

Monitormon

I'm contemplating getting one, as my KDS 19" is developing slight flickering at the top of the screen. It will flicker until it warms up (about 45 mins).
