current setup:

cable modem connected to months old buffalo router in bedroom

in living room (only 60 feet away or so, is a computer), it appers this corner of the house is a deadspot. Now I have a wrt54g v5 router just sitting around and an older airport base station sitting around. The WRT54G already has DD-WRT on it, and i thought this meant that i could turn it into an access point. However, i do not know where to start. I have been doing some reading, and it seems possible but i need some step by step directions for some assitance. Should i be connecting this linksys router to my cable modem so i can go into setup and change it to an access point (because right now its still set as a router)? I am not sure where to start here.

update: here is how far i have gotten. I connected the router to the wireless pc in the dead spot corner. It connects wirelessly, strangely, to the wireless connection to the router that has no cable modem connected to it! The internet does not work, but i can get to the DD-WRT page. I see that the wireless mode is AP, but it doesnt seem to be working as planned. I guess thsi is because it thinks its supposed to connected to another connection that does not exist (they have different SSID's)

also i cant seem to remember my password or username for DD-WRT. I know for past version 23 sp 1, which i have v23 sp2, so it should be root/admin. However, that doesnt work, so i must have changed it.

Thanks.

You'll want to use the DD-WRT box as a client bridge to connect it to the airport. That will give you internet connectivity as long as the airport is connected to the Buffalo router.

HTH!
