Exploring the Rambus Roadmaps

Um, is it just me or does GamePC always seem biased..

<< For their part, Rambus does seem genuinely concerned about getting RDRAM prices down to affordable levels. >>

EDIT: dang good point andreasl, brain must be too sleepy. I allways took GamePC to be intel happy, though i did just notice that under they custom build pages, the first "choice" is AMD, so maybe there not the same as my first impression told me. Or maybe they are just more "neutral" than i'm used too....

I suppose that anyone who says anything positive about RAMBUS must be biased huh? In any case, RAMBUS does have a clear roadmap, unlike JEDEC who will probably continue to argue about the next standards for quite some time more.

But I do find one thing funny. They and many others keep saying how a serial interface is the way to go. But looking at this roadmap they will move to 32bit and then a 64bit interface...

Oh and by the way. RAMBUS doesn't make any RDRAM, the memory makers do that. RAMBUS does the design part and the new 4t modules will reduce manufacturer costs. That is how they intend to reduce costs. One just wonders why they didn't go with the 4t standard in the first place? Since they say the performance difference is next to nothing. Sounds like a huge blunder to me.

fkloster keeps saying DDR is going to move towards serial... i guess that means in 3 years XXX-sdram will have a thinner interface than rdram
