I just use Trillian.

Trillian uses 12MB on my machine (thats RAM while its running). hardly a lot of memory. Well..having 640MB kinda spoils you 🙂

Compared to the other programs (~20k-5 MB) running in the background on my system, Trillian (12 MB) uses a lot of memory.

Trillian is garbage. I'd rather stick with the real thing, as all the alternatives suck even more.
