use CPUMSR to set multiplier on board that does not have multiplier adjustments?

I have just been reading about this CPUMSR program for the first time. My board does not have multiplier adjustments (MN31N), is there any chance I can use this CPUMSR program to be able to change the multiplier even though there is no option in the bios?

Thanks!

I have an nForce2 board. It says:

nVidia: nForce 2 (reg. E7, bit 4 = FID_Change Detect; reg. 6F, bit 4 = Halt Disconnect) - But there is high change this won't work, good solution hasn't been found to this date.

So is that a no for me then? My board is a Shuttle MN31N.

Just try it and see, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. 🙁

With my 8RDA (Nforce2), the system locks up completely when I try to use CPUMSR to change the multiplier.
