I think he deserved at least $290,000 for his 3 years.

Yes, college is better than pro because we they exploit their employees 🙄

Um, no. College athletes aren't paid and he's not special. If anything, change the stupid NFL eligibility 3 year rule and let them be signed out of high school like the NBA.

If Bush wanted to make 100K a year he could have went to the CFL, why didn't he do that? Most young players aren't that money hungry (i.e. stupid) though:

There are other options to be paid as a young football player but Bush chose NCAA which has freaking rules. Bush broke them and he and his school should be penalized.

The Heisman is a joke. It's not the best player in NCAA football. It's the best player on a BSC bowl team. Last year Mark Ingram. Only because he plays for Bama. He wasn't even the top rusher in the SEC. He was second behind Anthony Dixon at Mississipi State. Woodson over Manning in 1997 Booooooooooo

You fail at reading comprehension. Leading rusher in the SEC.

snipped

1st in what category?

Dixon only leads in Yds/Game, while Ingram leds in Yards per carry, touchdowns, and total yards.

You cant always compare running backs on stats alone. Ingram had a better backup, who had more carries than Dixon's backup. Had ingram not had a backup, he could have easily had way more carries and yards per game.

Dixon was suspended one game for DUI, No bowl game. No SEC Championship game. Dixon had three less games to play in than Ingram. I'm not saying Dixon deserved the heisman. Just the best player in the NCAA doesn't get a shot at the Heisman unless he is on a BSC bowl team.

And since Ingram was in the SEC championship and BCS championship games, he arguably faced a much tougher schedule. His yards per carry were still much better.

Ingram was a better running back, get over it.

The QB situation plays a factor. MSU had no passing game and relied almost exclusively on their running game.

Also, kids getting arrested and suspended for DUI have not business winning the Heisman anyway.

How did Dixon not get a shot? Toby Gerhart was the runner up and he played at Stanford. Ingram only won by 28 points. That is the smallest margin of victory ever for the Heisman.

according to the AP Reggie Bush released a statement through the Saints giving back his trophy

Much ado about nothing. Fine that they made the school give back the Heisman but they shouldn't be able to take back Bush's trophy also. He was by far the best player that year, no performance enhancing drugs.

He was ineligible as a college athlete.

Poor reggie, all he has now is his super bowl ring and millions and millions of dollars. Whatever shall he do...

So Bush finally caved. It only took the Heisman committee threatening to vote on taking it back to make him finally do the right thing, but what's done is done and I guess he saved a shred of dignity by doing it. I'd almost feel sorry for him if I wasn't so pissed off when he won over the guy who really deserved it, and hopefully now they'll be able to rectify that decision. Yes it's basically a fraudulent award, and on the surface Bush doesn't need it and is probably happy now that he went #2 to the Saints and won a SB thanks to Favre, but to me this is absolutely and deservedly just. And now USC is basically sunk in the wake of the decisions he made, not that I'm crying over that in the least, they had it coming, but negligence or not this is the kind of message the NCAA had to send, that you can be one of the greatest college RBs ever but you're not above the rules.

Well it's kinda like the Pete Rose argument. He was a gambler, and has always been kind of a dick, but damn he was a good baseball player. Plus the baseball HoF is already filled with cheaters anyways.

The doesn't excuse what either of them did though. Yeah neither "cheated" in the course of a game per se (Bush-Push excluded), but you can't really compare what Rose did as a pro coach with what Bush did as a player in college.
