So they freeze $74 for a few days. So fucking what? It's not like I'm going to go on some spending spree with my checking account and run it into oblivion. Why the fuck should I care if a few bucks are frozen for a day or two. Makes no difference to me.

Some people aren't rich and might only have that much money in their account. Then they can't buy ANYTHING for a few days until their money is returned.

Seriously, a lot of people get paid $400 or less every 2 weeks. To have nearly 1/4th of their check on hold just to buy gas is ludicrous.

At $400, that'd actually be less than 1/5 of their pay. 2/11 is a decent approximation.

Anyway, I thought of a solution! Just get $74 worth of gas when you fill up. Gas tank not big enough? Simply fill up 2 5-gallon containers. Then, you can brag to your friends "I only fill up at a gas station about once per month."

No?

Most cards don't generate interest until day 28. I pay mine off every 2 weeks.

The cc company makes money at the point of sale. For a high volume retailer, it's usually about 1% on top of the 15 cent flat fee.

For small retailers and/or online (higher risk of fraud) the rates can be as high as 2.99% and 50 cents per transaction.

Even if no one ever carried a balance the CC companies would still make money hand over fist.
