I bought a slim Win10 laptop and it only has USB2 and USB3 ports. No Ethernet port. Since I help friends with their internet/networking problems, I want a USB3 to Ethernet adapter to allow running an Ethernet cable from my new laptop to different routers for setup.

Anyone using a USB3 to Ethernet adapter in this scenario that works 100% of the time with any router? If so, would appreciate the brand and model number.

BTW, I know a USB2 adapter would work for the above but I want a USB3 adapter in case I want to use it for personal long term use.

I've had very good luck with Anker's USB3 hub with ethernet:

https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Unibod.../B00PC07T02/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1484437772

I would be equally confident in the non USB hub version:

The USB hub version just works on every machine I've tried it on, both PC and Macs. No drivers required for basic use though it may be performance limited on Macs if you don't install a driver. If you just need to do configuration work it's fine without any drivers.

Coincidentally, I have the Spigen version of what looks to be identical to the Anker Ethernet only adapter (your second link), already in my amazon cart. It's $4 cheaper so I'm going to go with it.

Thank you very much for taking the time to help out,
