usb2 cables????

You could, but you may well have noise problems as well as attenuation so it might not work too well.

It would be for a printer, what is attenuation?
 
Just get one of these and connect your two cables together. If that doesn't work, disconnect and get a USB 2 extension cable. 12 feet works fine. (2 six footers.)

USB spec says 5 meters is the longest cable you should use. I've got a 15 foot and 5 foot cable daisy chained here to my printer, and it seems to work alright.
So it can be done beyond spec, but it just might not work quite right.

The only difference I have ever noticed, is that some places (used to at least, haven't look in ages) sell "USB2" cables for more money...

Hi, Splice should have worked as long as you spliced the correct wires together and insulated the joints from each other. The shield should also be spliced. If the wire colors are different then use an OhmMeter to check them out. The connector or a longer cable is the best solution. Good Luck, Jim
