AFAIK, OS support is only availible in WinXP SP1. However, add-in card makers have drivers for their devices that allow USB 2.0 to work on additional OS's. Just a quick browse though Adaptec's product line shows drivers for Win98SE on up.
so can i use adaptec drivers on my asus board for the onboard usb ports? in xp they work fine after i install the stuff from the asus website, just wanted to see if they would work w/ 98
anyone have any experience w/ onboard usb2.0 w/ win98?
What motherboard is it? I'm looking at an SiS P4 mobo right now, and it says USB 2.0 is supported only under 2K/XP for that mobo; the same is probably true for all SiS USB 2.0 mobos.
I have a PC that runs Windows 98, can I still use Hi-Speed USB 2.0 products?
Yes, assuming first that you install a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 add-in card and you install a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 driver. Since Microsoft is only developing drivers for Windows XP and 2000, you will have to use a 3rd party vendor's drivers. In most cases, if you upgrade your PC with an add-in card, it will come with a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 driver install CD, that covers 98, 98SE, and ME.
