USB Zip Drive - Win2k drivers/Iomega drivers
I had my zip drive for about four months. I had absolutley no problems with it what-so-ever. Recently, the zip drive began to give me an I/O error anytime I copy files from zip disks, any zip disks. After this error is given, the drive just ceases all operation.
The problem is decieving at first: everything looks like it's copying normally: Win2k shows that my files are being transfered and the bar that shows the status of my copying of the files completes its trip from the left side to the right side of the copy-window. About five seconds later, I get an individual error per file I attemted to copy that goes like this: so-and-so file has had an error copying due to a "hardware error" as Win2k puts it.
I, of course, trying to get to the root of the problem tested the drive with my laptop, also running Win2k, and it works fine - all the time. Now to copy files from and to my PC I have to go through my laptop as well as my network. This is quite annoying.
My one explaination for the entire phenomenon is that my USB ports could have fried. That could be true, but my motherboard comes with two additional USB ports that plug onto the board via a cable. When I plug the drive into those ports as opposed to the built in ones, the same thing happens. Could there be something wrong with the Win2k managment of my USB ports?
If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this problem, please throw them out. Any help will be gladly appreciated.
