USB won't work correctly

Hi all.
Hopefully someone will be able to help my situation. I have (and have had) several USB devices connected to my computer (ie. hp inkjet, hp scanner, modem). I also connect a san disk compact flash reader to my front usb jack to download pictures from my digital camera. Everything was fine, in fact used the USB printer the other day to print a color flyer, now none of my USB ports seem to be working. My printer won't respond and I cannot read the compact flash from my camera. I found the problem trying to download from the compact flash - when I plug the usb cf reader into the usb jack, the computer recognizes it and then rejects it (like I'm plugging and un-plugging the usb cf card reader). Then I noticed that none of my other USB devices are working either. I use a hub for everything, except the cf card reader that plugs directly into a front usb jack on the computer case. I also noticed that off the lights on the usb hub are not showing a signal.

Has anyone heard of anything like this before?? I didn't change anything or move anything.

Please help.

Thanks.
Mike.

My USB devices are connected exactly as yours are. I've had to occasionally unplug/replug the power jack to the hub. I'd first power-down and exercise all jacks/plugs on your USB circuit.

Windows offers a nice set of tools to help analyze some problems. Click on:
- Start
- Help and Support
- Use Tools....
- My Computer Information
- View System Information
- View Advanced System Information
- View the Error Log

Start there to see if the error log info gives a clue.

Under 'View the status of my system hardware and software', a simple USB Controller 'Troubleshooter' is available.

Hope this helps!
