USB VS PS2 mouse

I have a USB mouse, but I am seeing tremendous turn lag in games. its very annoying since the usb should be much faster refresh wise. So I am wondering if I should switch to ps2 or not.

I am using win xp.

If you're using games with a USB mouse under XP make sure you turn off "mouse smoothing" or things like that in the games... windows does it to begin with anyway...... I've found it lags the crap outta my pointing, but once I turn off mouse smoothing it's nice and smooth anyway and non-laggy.

XP for some reason does this and I still don't know why... Hope this helps 🙂

thats what i meant
i dont know where i pulled refresh rate out of wheni was typing that

idont even think you can change refresh rate on usb mice....besdies it should be like 125hz whereas default for ps/2 is around 40hz

i konw theres "hacks" you can use for ps/2 mice to change them up to 200hz :Q

uh huh... sure... whatever you say...

lol

yeah, PS/2 has the potential to get 200hz but it's really not that much better than 125... Besides... the mouse has to be able to send 200x second... and most cheap mice do not... If you've got a newer optical, or balled MS or Logitech you're set though 🙂

I prefer USB though because I can uplug it from my keyboard at night so the stupid bright ass LED doesn't shine in my face and prevent me sleep! :|

if I remember correctly, just go to the mouse options and it should be there... it may not necessarily be labeled "mouse smoothing" though... it could be mouse filter, or other name... Of course you ask for one of the games that I don't know the specific spots for 😛
