USB voltage input/output

I would like a board that I could plug in to a computer via USB and be able to set/read voltages which could be used to drive external devices (ie servos, relays, etc).

The functionality should be just like a microcontroller, but so that I don't have to write code and compile it for a microcontroller haha.

Does anything like this exist?

Thanks,

Dave

Used to be I read about using each data line of a parallel port for such things, but many mobos don't even have parallel ports any more. I'm sure there are web sites out there that focus on data collection and control. Most here just do personal and business uses of PCs not industrial uses, but who knows, you may get lucky. I'd guess that BASIC Stamps and similar (which do have parallel and serial ports) are used for such purposes now and there probably are canned programs for the purposes you mentioned.

Yea i knew this wasn't the best place to ask but I didn't have a better idea! haha

The parallel port is a good idea, but as you mentioned, they are hard to come by these days haha.

Thanks for the suggestions.

You can still find parallel port cards that will still work with most machines. Maybe even find a data collection, measurement and control board to plug into one.
