USB Useless?

Is it just me or is USB useless? Why don't the motherboard manufacturers install 2 firewire ports and 1 USB ( or none 🙂 ) instead of 2+ Usb ports ?
After all, IEEE 1394 is Faster than USB, no ? What do you guys think?

Umm, where have you been? Until Firewire peripherals are as prominent as USB, USB will STILL rule. And for what it is, it ROCKS. I have:

USB keyboard (Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro)
USB Mouse (Intellimouse Explorer)
Gravis Xterminator
HP Scanjet 3300C
Compaq iPAQ (connected via USB)
PQI SmartMedia/CompactFlash reader
Planar 18.1" LCD monitor (has an additional 4 USB ports on it)

I have:

MS kb
MS mouse
Epson printer
Visioneer scanner
MS wheel
MS joystick
Visor cradle
Sandisk CF reader
D-link hub

What's not to like about USB?

Yeah, firewire is actually the one thats useless, at least on PCs. Except for digital cameras, there are far more devices on USB... keyboards, cameras, mice, joysticks. Honestly, i think the extra bandwith that firewire offers is only good for external cd rom, hard drives, and digital video devices. Keyboards, mice, and joysticks really dont need the higher bandwith and work just fine under USB

Thats what i'm trying to say, not where have i been, but where have you been? ( to the peripheral manufacturers )
Firewire has a much greater bandwidth, i use it for digital video editing and have never had a problem once, whereas
USB devices seem to lock up once in awile on me ( mice, joysticks, cameras ). And thats on 5 diffrent PCs!
Firewire has never failed me yet. GO 1394!!!🙂
