Just curious as to how people put USB thumb drives to use these days. I just picked up my first one (second if you count the dead one I bought and returned to Fry's.) Haven't found much use for it yet other than making sure I have a copy of Putty and a Remote Desktop client with me at all times.

Hehe... probably true, but for those of us behind the times, or those who got in on that free 32MB drive from Dell, it'll probably be something new. =)

great when you do not own a floppy drive.
Lets say you need to boot to dos and run some firmware update.

Thums drive perfect.
Also to boot to dos for a nice network boot for ghost images.

In other words, you are bored out of your mind at work.

We have a 256MB one at work (IT helpdesk at a little college) that we use to cart around a bunch of Spyware-removal tools, the IE6 setup program, and a couple of other odds and ends. Comes in quite handy :)

Personally, I don't have one...yet. I tried getting in on that Dell freebie, but it kept telling me that I had an invalid code. Guess I'm going to have to keep my eyes open for a good deal and get one the hard way :p

On that 'Good Deal' note, Costco has a 256MB SanDisk 'Cruzer Mini' for $39.99 or so. Doubt it's the best price out there, but it sure as heck beat what I paid at Fry's ($59.99 for 128 megs, Sony.)

Anywho, I think I'll load up some roms and an SNES emulator for my shift at work tonight.

Yeah. I give them about 2 months to realize what a mistake it was.

Every post you've ever made has been in this thread, I think. :)

Hey I'm looking for a good deal on a thinkpad, get back to me on that please. :p

I used it for random scripts and remote access clients when I worked at a tech.
