If you had asked me which was wider, a AA battery or a USB socket, I would definitely have said the USB socket was wider. I guess I was wrong.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Never would have guessed a USB A connector would fit inside a AA.

I just did a simple test by putting the two together (placed a usb plug in front of a AA battery for all you smart people) and they are almost exactly the same width (the usb plug is ever so slightly narrower)...interesting.

I dunno I remember seeing 600mah nimh batteries and now they are up to 2800... 1300 seems good enough for a remote. $24 though... if you are near a USB port, other than a laptop, you are most likely near an electric outlet. Id go for 4 batteries with a battery charger/conditioner before I get a USB battery.

USB is quickly becoming the "Because we can" bus. Lots of useless stuff plugs into it now. And it's funny, because serial ports are becoming ever-more popular for custom work - and they were supposed to die YEARS ago.

I just thought about this... the shear design of it limits most people to either

1. plug them it into two different locations (cant fit into a lot of top-bottom or side-by-side) usb port)
2. plug one in at a time
3. buy usb extentions.

Dont know why I analyzed it that much but... cool idea though. USB innovations are fun and good (1 week of fun) toys plus it can impress friends with your geekdom.

portability really hurt by 5+hr charge, leave ur laptop on for 5hrs? one ca get cheap chargers that can fit in your fist if you can plug in

NiMH batteries are not great for low-drain applications like remotes, because they lose their charge over time.

Edit: These batteries seem pretty pointless to me since they're so expensive.
