Usb read and write speed

Can anyone please tell me whether read and write speed checks on a USB flash will affect the flash drive or not ?

I checked my USB flash drive twice now and both the read and write speed have dropped down when i checked the second time. I use speedout to check USB speed.

Not knowing if your using USB 2 or 3, But your not going to get any real speeds over 30MBs on USB 2.
Also make sure there is good power going to the device, I have gone though many issues with my portible USB2 HDD that powers from the port, My cable works fine at home but on my work system and friends puter its only half speed unless I use one of those special Y USB cables that gets the extra juice to it.

It's USB 2.0. But my question is whether the read/write speed checks will damage the USB flash drive ? Thank you
