USB Question

My motherboard has a built in chipset for USB (VIA). I abandoned that and purchased a PCI controller with two usb ports because the VIA USB never worked so well. The PCI card works great.

My question is, does anybody know if I can use the PCI controller card and the onboard (built in) USB at the same time or will I have any conflicts?

Tanx.

you should not have any problems.

usb controllers have been very well behaved in sharing IRQs.

but then, you did say the VIA USB never worked too well... lol

For the onboard USB, make sure you have "reserve IRQ for USB" on in the BIOS. That might solve that problem.

Other than that, it should work fine.

I have never had a problem with any via usb implementations. But then again nothing really goes in those usb ports except keyboard or mouse when I feel like it =)
