USB port question

QueBert

Lifer
Friend dropped her iPhone in water, she put it in rice for 4 days, but it's still not working right. WHen I plug it to my PC it automatically turns on, I see the Apple logo and it shuts off and shows the battery symbol. If I plug it directly to the wall it boots all the way up. Wifi/BT/Data all don't work so the phone is pretty much done for. But she wants me to get her pics off.

I've tried to get it into DFU mode, but with how it reboots on it's own when it's plugged into a USB port, I can't quite get it. My question is this, if I go out and buy a powered usb hub would that possibly give it enough juice to stay on? My MB is an ASRock with Fast Charge, but I'm assuming it's not giving enough power as the iPhone works on the wall but not on the computer. If I unplug it from the wall while it's on it instantly shuts off.

The pics are all on there, I can see them when it's hooked to the wall and on, but since I can't get DFU mode the powered USB hub is the only thing I can come up with.

Any other suggestions?

just take the sd card out.and you can get an adapter usb to sd

Its an iPhone, no sd card

OP, when you plug it into the wall and it boots all the way up, does it show how much the battery is charged at all? it could be that the battery power is low and would have to charge a bit before you can use it via usb on the computer

As for the USB powered hub, I cannot say as I never had to try that

Can you post the pics somewhere on the internet like facebook or a picture sight and download them from there? That would be a kind of round about way of doing things. Were the pictures sent to the cloud? Is that an option?

Galaxy 5s can take the water.....and keep on ticking.....Just saying.
Can you plug into wall and send files via blootooth?

Bluetooth data and wifi don't work. It shows it at 93% charge I left it plugged in overnight. I guess I'll buy a cheap powered usb hub and see if it works, can't hurt to try
