USB Port Problems

Every time i plug a usb cord in to my computer it says usb power surge, the usb port used up all it's power. How can i fix this?

You sound like you are drawing too much power through usb. I would purchase a AC powered USB hub and hook power drawing devices up to it.

The item you have hooked up to it is pulling too much. You can't control that unless you can hook the device up with a AC adapter.

Is this on a laptop? Some of the cheaper PCMCIA USB 2.0 controller cards require an external power adapter, or have a pass-through cable that hooks up to a PS2 or USB 1.1 port for power. I used to have one that gave that exact error message if that cable was not installed.
