USB not detecting hardware

I just got finished install a fresh copy of XP pro and for some reason now the USB ports will not detect anything I put in them. This goes for both the ones that are hooked to the front of the PC through the tower and the ones that are on the motherboard. ive installed the mobo drivers for usb2.0 and have winxp service pack 1 which is supposed to have support for usb ports. The strange thing is this never happened before, i didnt even install the drivers on my previous XP install.

Go into your Hardware Manager and make sure that the ports have drivers installed and are not conflicting with anything else.
