USB Mouse plugged into USB keyboard?

Basicaly, im going for a compact look for my computer. I like that mouse but the cord is only 2 feet long. So i thought i'd get a USB keyboard with 2 hubs and plug that in. Will it work if i plug in the mouse to that keyboard's build in USB hub? Will it work in the BIOS? I always thought of one usb per peripherals and a hub just lets you switch to which one you can use. So im not sure if using a mouse/keyboard works as i have no knowledge on how those things work. Help appreciated!

I haven't tried what you're saying, but each USB port is supposed to be able to handle up to 127 devices. Whether they're plugged into a dedicated hub or daisy-chained or any combination of hubs and chains, they should all be recognized individually.

It'll work...just make sure you have the USB Keyboard enabled in the BIOS.

Usually that does work very well. Keep in mind that the hubs in USB keyboards are bus powered, so you got a total power budget of 500mA for the keyboard, hub, and mouse. Typically each of these takes 100mA, so you should be safe - but there are "high end" mice with multiple laser diodes which are more power hungry.

aight, let thread die, ima order on newegg tomorrow. I would think that the mouse and keyboard use very little power since its a laptop mouse so it should be optimized for that, and being a slim keyboard, it should also use less power than a regular sized one.

Don't expect a device to consume less power just because it's physically smaller. It contains the exact same stuff, just with less plastic around it.

I do this on my notebook w/ a Kensington Keyboard-In-A-Box and a Kensington Pocket Mouse Pro Wireless. Works just fine. I've also used a usb flash drive at the same time w/ no ill effects power-wise.
