USB Mouse is going crazy

MrDudeMan

Lifer
i am running windows xp on a p4 1.6a @ 2.13

it all worked fine at first, but now when i move my mouse, sometimes it starts pausing and going weird ways, but it worked fine at first

it is on a USB 2.0 port (an expansion port from the gigabyte 8IRXP) and it is a logitech optical mouse

is it because of the overclock? how do i fix this problem?

TIA

It sounds odd to me. I would switch it around to different USB ports. The overclock shouldn't effect it because at 133MHz FSB everything is in spec. You may also want to wipe your finger through the little place that the optical sensor resides. For some reason, on Logitech mice, it'll get a piece of hair or something in it and make it do some crazy things. Mainly the ghost mouse, where your mouse will move to one edge of the screen when you take your hand off of it.

I agree with the hair issue. I have a logitech optical too, and those symptoms you described can be solved, (or have been solved me) but just blowing out the 'eye' area. Usually a piece of dust or hair gets stuck in there messing with the sensor. Hope that helps.

lol no im pretty sure its gonna live 🙂

thanks for the input, if it persists, ill post again, appreciate the help as always
