USB keyboard fail

My USB keyboard stopped working despite being 6 months old and not subject to any spills or physical trauma. The NUM/CAPS keys still light up according to how I change those settings, and the keyboard still appears to be recognized by Windows, but just won't input any key typing. Any ideas for help?

Start by plugging in another keyboard to determine whether the problem is in the keyboard or the machine.

I will do that as soon as I can get my hands on another keyboard. I can tell you that other USB accessories are working fine and it's a laptop, and the laptop keyboard is still working fine.

It sounds like the problem is in the keyboard. I hope yours has at least a one year warranty. 🙂

That's also the solution. It's cheap so don't waste more than the value of your time before you replace it. If you can fix it, later, you'll have a cheap spare. If not, Best Buy offers free electronics recycling. 😎

If I can find the receipt, I'll go nag Futureshop about it, otherwise I'll just buy a new one and recycle this one. And probably spend a few more dollars this time.

Thanks for your quick and helpful advice! A friend recommend this forum to me and it seems great.
