USB keyboard causing freezing during boot

I recently began using my USB keyboard with my notebook PC. However, when I start the PC with the keyboard attached, the little progress bar that fills up under the Dell icon fills to the same spot and then freezes. I manually turn off the notebook, and during the next boot that bar fills up much more slowly, but it eventually boots to Windows and everything is fine.

Someone on a different forum said they thought the PC was attempting to enumerate a drive that has no boot partition (keyboard). Is there any soultion to this besides unplugging the keyboard every time I boot the PC?

Thanks

I sometimes havethis problem, in some cases changing the port the device was hooked into fixed the problem.

Your bios has a halt on USB? Does your USB slot support the 1 or 2? Has a USB hub attached?

Hoopster81,

Well my friend, how about a docking station for that little notebook of yours....

really, I would visit the manufacture website for that notebook(that u so gracially provided the specs on) and look up the notebook and go to FAQ's or latest updates...etc..

u might also go to Fry's or Best Buy and purchase one of those USB to PS1 adapters...

later sk8tr

good luck

Go into the BIOS & look for a setting that says "halt on errors" or somthing similar & change it to either "no errors" or "all but keyboard" ... also you should enable USB-legacy support if its there.
