I have the SanDisk Cruzer Titanium 512MB. This little gem of a drive has it all:

The case is made of stainless steel and titanium, and is guaranteed to withstand 2000 lbs of pressure before being damaged.

It's one of the fastest on the market.

The plug retracts into the metal shell when not in use for maximum protection.

Blue LED over plug-switch indicates when drive is in use.

To be honest, I haven't found another drive that's nearly as nice for the dollars. I love this thing to death.

I dont really know of any cool apps, besides putting firefox on the USB drive so you can take it with you on almost any computer. I'd actually recommend the Sandisk Cruzer Micro 512MB

Its VERY small, about 2x.75x.25 inches and it has an awesome, bright blue LED. Its also durable, the entire thing is encased in metal, then covered with a clear, tight fitting rubbery plastic that protects it from scratches. My friends are jealous because its so small and I got it for $30 from Circuit City on Black Friday.

I bought Sandisk Cruzer Micros, one for me and one for my wife.
The Micro version also serves as the memory for the Sandisk MP3 player...

I wonder about this kind of setup versus something like the creative MUVOs which are almost the same kind of thing...any opinions?

I bought Impact 128MB wich use Scandisk. It is little cute and I don't know what else to do with this after I transfer some of stuff from my desktop to laptop that does not read cd-r and cdrw disc.

is this a viable alternative to a floppy drive if my mobo supports it? i need a flash drive for bios updates and i don't really want to get a floppy. i know my mobo can boot from a usb device, not sure how exactly but i remember seeing it in the manual.

would there be any format issues? for instance, if i got a 512 i could only format it as DOS for bios? or can you use 2 partitions, one DOS and one windows and use that for , well any apps or something? or should i just get a smaller 1 for bios and drivers and a 512 for apps/music, etc.
?

sorry if these are dumb questions, it just seems like a perfect little device if it can do what i think it can and save me from buying a damn floopy.

I have a Lexar Jump Drive 2.0 Pro and I will never buy another Lexar product. The drive failed after 6 months and their support is like a black hole were stuff goes in and nothing ever comes out. If you dig around on the net you can find other people with USB drives that have failed and most of them are Lexar.

Sandisk has excellent support. I lost the cap to my Cruzer Micro and contacted their support to see where I could get a replacement cap. A week later, I got one in the mail from them.

I have a Lexar Jump Drive 128MB (USB1.1 version) and it hasn't messed up on me yet. I've had it for over a year. I used it all the time in high school to print out AP CompSci projects and essays at my high school. I don't use it much now at college since we get network space, but I've used it a few times for small backups for to transfer files to and from computers.
