Hey Guys,
I recently built a new system, but I'm having problems getting my front USB ports to work correctly. It seems that every way I try to connect the ports to the USB header on the motherboard will not work.
Hardware:
- Antec SX630II Case
- Abit NF7 Motherboard
Here are the connectors I have available with my case:
-- Available Connectors
Here is a picture I took of the USB headers. One header is currently being used by two ports that connect up to the back of the system occupying a PCI slot. Maybe by looking at how that one is wired you can get some idea as to how I need to connect up these front ports?
-- Motherboard USB Headers
And here is how Abit says to connect them:
-- USB Header Explanation (Abit Manual)
I've tried connecting my connectors this way a dozen times, and it does not work! I've tried different pin orientation, switching around ground and +5V connectors, connecting only 8 pins (instead of 9), but nothing will work!
The main problem I'm having is getting my digital camera to work with the front ports! I've been able to hook up my wacom tablet to the ports fine, but my camera is giving me grief. With all the different ways I've tried connecting up the front ports, sometimes when I plug the camera in the system will detect it and load the appropriate drivers, sometimes not. Once and awhile the camera will even show up as a mass storage device in "My Computer", but the drive is empty and I cannot put files on it. That's the furthest I've gotten. It says "Unknown filesystem" or something like that when I try to write data to it. Otherwise my camera will work great in all of my other USB ports.
I've run out of ideas! Ahhh... help!
Thanks,
Andrew
