And because of that, so often bought.

Buy.com gave me a stupid $20 off $80 coupon and there wasn't really anything I truly needed so I decided to buy more flash drives - Corsair 16GB and a Crucial 1GB. This is maybe a month after I bought an Emprex 8GB, and before that 2 2GB's back in Dec, plus another Corsair 1GB for Vista SpeedBoost.

I'm just using my smaller-capacity flash drives as document backups now. Easier to use and stow away than CDR's.

How many flash drives do you have/use on a daily basis?

I have a 4gb and 2gb Cruzer Micro (I love U3) and a 2gb Corsair Voyager. I haven't lost any yet, but I did kill a 1gb Cruzer Micro by putting it in the dryer; the 2gb went through the washer and lived.

I don't use them on a daily basis, but fairly frequently. I don't own one myself though because I can always find someone around that has one. I just can't get myself to spend the $20.

None. I have a dew at home of various sizes but I never use them. Current job doesn't call for them.

I'm using a cheapie Lexar 2GB one that is attached to my keys right now. I've learned me lesson regarding never putting anything on a flash drive that I can't afford to lose. If it's that important, I'll upload it to my webspace or make a CD. CDs are literally a dime a dozen so I really don't care if I only use it once.

None anymore. I had a 512mb that I used for GIS and cartography classes, but it got lost. Now I use a 2gb SD card to transfer stuff between laptop and desktop (besides network) and I just put some tv shows on a 4gb CF card to watch with my coworker tonight.
CF = FAST

And the advantage of an SD card is it can stay in the laptop. I wish I had one of those SD cards with a built in USB plug

I have a SanDisk Cruzer Micro 4GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive. It get used every day at work and home. I use SyncToy (free) to run a weekly backup of my flash drive. I would be in mourning for a week if I lost the data.

I have a 128mb Microsoft Project one that I got from a free seminar.
I still use it for getting drivers to freshly installed laptops and whatnot.

I have been eyeing those newer 8 and 16gb ones though.
Microcenter has the 8gb for $30 and the 16gb for $60.

Heh...I kept losing the little gadgets until I got the Cruzer Titanium a few years ago and placed it on my key chain. There has been plenty of times when I realize that I don't have my keys and need to retrace my steps to find them. I don't use them much anymore because the .5 gb is not really enough space.

I love how cheap they are now....I have a 4gb one in my car thats great for throwing music on.

I don't normally lose them more than I use them to death till they end up falling apart. I have owned 2 of those Corsair Flash Voyager 4gb's at work and they keep coming unglued from the inside or the entire top peice snaps off after about a year. They are great to have and I love that I can boot computers off them now.

I still find it hilarious that I keep buying larger and larger capacity USB flash drives when my Windows installation is slimmed down to less than 16GB.

I have three. First one was a 1GB Lexar Jumpdrive. The sport one, and the rubber cap ripped. It's been through the wash and dryer 3x, and has been going strong. It retired as a drive to stick stuff on to give to my family when they want a bunch of pictures. Still have it.

2nd is a 2GB sandisk micro. cap/casing removed because it kept falling off. still attached to my key. I have this because I haven't found a 4GB+ replacement that is metal, sleek, and can attach to my keychain.

3rd is a 2GB microcenter drive that was a freebie. slow as hell, but useful for using at work for drivers and stuff.

oo.. i take taht back, there's an 8GB version of mine now, sweet.

I have a 512 MB Sandisk Cruzer Micro and a 2 GB Kingston Datatraveler connected to the same lanyard. I'd be screwed if I lost them.

I have 2 old 256mb that I use when working on machines for people. Also have a 1gb old drive and my main 2gb drive. I backup anytime a file is changed. Basically I have a folder on every computer I use and if a file changes I make sure to copy and paste it to the folder on the machine too. I'd hate to loose a drive.
