USB Flash Drive Security Question

I'm going to need to move some files between some old systems. I'm guessing safest way to do this (to prevent any potential malware/virus cross contamination) would be to boot into safe mode and move the files from there, no?

why boot into safe mode? You may have issues with the thumb/flash drive being 'seen' in safe mode.

Sure way of getting your files is to burn to disc...

If you are worried about malware/virus contamination, move the files to the system then do a scan on the files (after you scanned them before moving them).
