I purchased a USB Flash Drive for my wife and we put a bunch of data on it and as soon as the data was put on the drive went belly up. Whenever I put the drive in a PC (tried Windows 2000, XP, and 2003) it shows as a removeable disk but when I double-click on it, it tells me to "Please insert disk into drive E".
I've already spoken with the person I bought it from (eBay) and I can send it back for replacement or refund. However, due to the data that's on it being confidential I am concerned that I will send it back, they will have seen the issue before and fix it, and then the data that's on it will be accessible to them. My main question here is, is there a way for me to format this drive so I can be certain the data is gone?
I have tried going to disk management and the drive is seen, however there are no paritions or anything showing up so I can't delete and re-create. I tried using PC inspector and it sees the drive as "Busy" and can't access it.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can get this thing working or at least formatted?
Thanks,
Ethan
