Paid about $18 a few weeks back. :\

my trusty 8GB sandisk cruzer titanium from many years ago still runs fine and is damn durable. unfortunately, when sandisk was phasing out the titanium line, they started cheaping out on the materials (wasnt made out of liquidmetal anymore, felt plasticky) and changed the damn led from blue to orange!

anyways, its still a solid drive and has yet to fail me!

I have a few... ranging from 2gb - 8gb. I rarely ever use them anymore, and if I need to transport large files, I'd rather use a usb 2.5" hard drive instead.

But besides, I've had generally bad luck with my USB sticks. I've had a couple that are so flimsy that the case fell off... it's now being held together with a rubberband. My 8gb drive is unreliable, and I occasionally get corrupted files off of it. I don't even know why I still keep it to be honest...

Pretty much the only thing my sticks get used for is to install Windows or Ubuntu for my computers that have no disc drive.

You can get USB 3.0 16gb sticks for $30 if you watch for the deals. I have a 16gb Corsair.
I got one of those for $17 after MIR a couple of weeks ago.

It's definitely faster than the USB 2.0 models, even when used in a 2.0 port. The downside is it's freaking HUGE, which is probably why Newegg has them on sale so often.

@OP: I've always had good luck with the Corsair drives. The sweet spot pricewise is usually 16GB.

Updated for you.

Actually they're crazy fast. Look at the benchmarks. Not 500 times faster per USB spec, but up to 100 times faster.

Hmm will have to read the reviews, thanks. However the USB 3.0 spec is 10x faster than USB 2.0 not 500 times.

Ah and personally I have a 1GB Lexar from years back and a 2GB Lacie IamaKey that I got free from an OKI sales rep and is branded OKI.

Haha... you should see my cable drawer. I've got all sorts of old printer, composite, audio, power, and usb cables that I doubt I'll ever use again. But I just can't throw them away. There's even more junk in there that I shudder to think about. 😱

I've got an OCZ Diesel 16GB that I've used the crap out of for about 2.5 years. Lost it in a parking lot earlier this year and it was run over and rained on for about two days. Still works fine.

Have a Patriot 4GB that I've wore the paint off.

Have a new 16GB Patriot that I just picked up from Newegg for $11.99 after rebate.

Have a 16GB SuperTalent USB 3.0 stick that I picked up earlier this year but have not tried it out other than to make sure it works.

I keep the Diesel 16GB and the Patriot 4GB on me at all times. Might swap out the 4GB for the Patriot 16GB in the near future though.

Hah, this topic is well timed for me. Personally I have nothing but a random assortment of 1GB-8GB sticks, but yesterday I was at Tom Thumb in Frisco, TX, and noted something bizarre in the clearance section. Apparently they stocked up on 16MB and 32MB flash drives waaaaaaaay back in the day. Yes, MB, not GB! They were on clearance for the amazing low prices of $19.99 and $39.98!! WHAT A DEAL!!! I was tempted to say something to someone, but figured I'd just get a blank stare. I wonder if anyone has actually bought one not realizing that they're about a thousand times smaller than they're expecting 😀

LOL. What does Tom Thumb usually sell?

had one 4gb, then got 2x8gb to use for music in our cars. but, i have been streaming google music via bluetooth in mine, and my wife plugs in her ipod, so neither get any use. i think the 8gb are kingston.

They do have 2 caps and I have never lost one. And personally, Newegg is very high on the cost. You can get the same units from EBay for under $2.00 with shipping included. That is where I got mine and they work just fine. One of my units is an IOGEAR #GFR202SDW6 2-in-1 USB 2.0 Card Reader, but I think this model is no longer made.

You could give them to Dr. Doofenshmirtz to use as a trap for Perry the Platypus.

I sold all my old cables and misc. computer junk at my garage sale. Now they are in someone else's drawer. 😉
