Usb/Firewire Case to 2 computers?

Can a dual format external enclosure be connected to / accessed by two computers at once (one over usb - the other over 1394)?

No...from my experience USB reads over the Firewire when each Proto's are hooked to separate Puters

i was told only one protocoal can be active at one time on those thingies...

The external Western Digital USB/Firewire enclosure I have can be accessed through 2 computers @ once.

Totaly depends on the Enclosure but I'd say in most cases this isn't possible, since many enclosures only use one chip for firewire and usb2.0 to IDE functions and can only do 1 at a time. Hope this helps... :)
