I got a 16ft usb cable (http://www.amazon.com/gp/produ...4/002-5618723-7685604) for a webcam.
Even though the cable says it is "active" and has a repeater - the webcam image in grainy thru the 16ft cable vs straight into the pc.

I'd like to order a better cable for a shaper picture. I measured the distance and now know I only need 10ft.

Can you recommend a brand/model of 10ft usb extension cable?

Be sure you buy a cable that's USB2 (faster if the devices connected to it can support it, otherwise it still works at slower USB 1 speed).
 
I have used a Belkin 10 foot USB20 extension cable for a few years now on my pinter and have had no issues.
