Sabrent USB-EXC2 USB 2.0 16.5-feet ACTIVE Extension Cable Type A Male to Type A Female---Maximum 80 ft Extention!

One of the biggest obstacles encountered in planning a wire run is the signal limitation of USB devices. With a maximum guaranteed length of 16 feet, very few USB runs are successful without the use of ACTIVE extension cables. These are M/F extension cables which feature a booster-box on the end, and when strung together, can achieve a new MAXIMUM of 80 feet. Easily extend your USB 2.0 cable past 5 Meters by daisy chaining up to five of our premium USB 2.0 active extensions. These USB 2.0 compliant cables support data transfer rates up to 480Mbps and are fully backward compatible with both low and high-speed USB v1.1 devices.

If only either place sold 3ft A male to A female extensions. Best place I've found was Computergeek.com but with the shipping starting at around $7.00 you almost need to order like 20 of them to make it worthwhile and who needs 20 cables?

If you're daisy chaining a bunch of these together to get a longer length, the key limiter is the voltage drop - some cheaper units have trouble getting to the full 80' length. Watch the guage of the cable, and the type of port you're using to supply the signal into the cable - use the ones on the back of your computer. I've also been able to use 6 of the adapters to power less data intensive equipement like keyboards and mice.

Not cheaper at $12, but they worked well at the limit.
