I have a Alcatel USB ADSL modem that's plugged in to the back of my PC at home. I want to set up a wireless LAN at home. I'm trying to get the set-up visualised in my head properly before I buy a WAP. How does it work?
My USB modem is plugged in to my PC and the other end to the phone line. I buy a WAP. So now I plug the USB modem in to the USB port of the WAP and plug the WAP in to the desktop PC via ethernet? the WAP has a phone port in it which plug in to the phone line. Correct?
Now here's my questions. Is there a product which allows my WAP to plug in to my PC via USB instead of me having to fork out money for an Ethernet card for my PC? I can't seem to find such a device.
I could save myself the hassle any buy a ADSL USB Wireless Modem, a few of which I know exist, but that's like reinventing the wheel. I already have an ADSL modem.
