Yes, you can use most players for storage too.

Personally I use a 64MB thumb drive and a 20GB external HD. It's all going to depend on what kind of data you need to carry around but I usually only carry word docs and presentation stuff so it all fits on 64MB.

They are great for taking things with you. You can get them in either USB1.1 or USB2. 2 is obviously way way way faster but only if your PC supports it. You can usually get a 64meg USB1.1 from OfficeMax or what not for about $10 after rebate.

I love them. Just started using they a week or so ago but the portability is great.

If you've got a bit more money, you can try to pick up a 40-60GB laptop HD and put it into a USB 2.0 enclosure (they run about $20-40).

Links to the merchendise to do this project? Sounds like fun.

Bytecc ME-320U 5.25"/3.5" USB 2.0 External Enclosure

I have one of the above enclosures, that's not where I got it. I got it at a local Computer shop.

I don't bother to close the case and I can swap out Hard Drives.

This is one of the best kept secrets out there. This basically replaces the old ZIP drive technology.

You can even boot up with these external drives, you can have a PC without a hard drive actually inside the machine.

If you have Win98se it is hard to find the driver so I put a link on my website.

If you have WinXP you don't need anything as XP recognizes the External Mass Media as you plug and unplug the cable.

Nice :D
