Hi,

I am using P4 with win2k.

I am trying to get my mouse to work in USB (right now I am using it w/ a PS2 adapter) but, it doesn't respond when I plug it in a USB port. The light comes on for a second but, the cursor can't be moved.

I have installed the driver that came w/ my mobo, several times. And have also updated it but, nothing seems to work. When I go in device manager, nothing USB-related is seen there.

My question is that how do I enable USB on my mother board. It's a Tyan VIA mobo. I am including following information, which I think could be relevant. (maybe it isn't). I will try to get more info if u need it.

Thank you.

Also try enabling USB legacy device in BIOS, Then you can use a USB mouse/keyboard when in DOS if formatting/fdisking, etc.

Win2K install will still install drivers for the USB. They may be outdated from the latest obviously, But will still work and let the USB root hub show up in device manager. Sounds like a hardware, not software issue. Even USB 2.0 will show up in the device manager, But will have the yellow(or red) ! next to it. Then you would need correct 2.0 drivers.
