USB device causing reboot?

Every time I plug in my IOGEAR card reader my computer reboots...almost like it's been "shorted out". I said "every time", but in reality, it's only been twice.

Just a fluke? Mobo is a Gigabyte P35-DS3L.
 
Try that device on a different computer. That way you can tell if it is the device or perhaps the port on your machine.
