USB Card Reader Not Recognized

All right, let me make this as succinct as possible:

- Been using a USB 2.0 card reader in my USB 1.1 machine for over a year. It is a 6-in-1 reader by EDGE Technologies.

- Running Windows 2000 SP4. No issues whatsoever.

- Today, for some reason the various drives related to the different memory types (CF, SD, etc) disappeared.

- I restarted, Windows finds new hardware, says it is a USB Device, with no driver function found assigned to the device.

- I re-install drivers, I try forcing the driver to be assigned to the device, all results in failure.

Anybody seen anything like this? Anybody have any suggestions? All my other USB devices work perfectly - PDA, monitor USB hub, mouse.

Thanks.

If possible, try a different reader. Sometimes they just go ka-blooey.

Also - how about trying different USP ports?
