USB Cables help

Hey guys... i bought an USB A/B cable from outpost.com to hook up my new canon printer but it seems the receptor doesnt fit the printer!

My printer has a roughly square looking (but is actually a six sided polygon) USB receptacle whereas the USB cable I bought has 2 recangular connectors...
one fits into my computer but the other doesnt fit anywhere (not my computer or the printer)

WTF?

Are there more than one type of USB connectors? help...

when I needed an A to B, male to male... Fu$%$#^

Its cost me just as much to send them back to outpost as it would to buy new ones...🙁
